I am in deep mourning for the loss of the Standard. :(. The food was always lovely, the service idiosyncratic and the atmosphere unashamedly stuck somewhere in the late 1970's. I for one loved it and was looking forward to eating there for ever! The loss of the Standard is tragic. I too would give anything to know where the chefs were now working. Westbourne Grove is the poorer for the loss of the Standard. Won't someone change their minds and bring it back?

What a tragedy. I have been going there for the past 40 years. The food has always been reliably good and decently priced. OK they used to add a 10% tip to the bill which wasn't so obvious so you could have tipped twice, but the food was so good.
I was really sad when I realized that the restaurant is to close forever. I was hoping that they were just refurbishing or something like it. This was the restaurant where I would take away almost every week
Alas, the Standard is no more. The owners have retired and their heirs apparant have declined the opportunity to continue the tradition. If anyone knows where the chefs have gone please let me know.
